SureFly Electronic Ignition: Dealer and Installation at Gastonia (KAKH)
AGL Aviation Services is a SureFly dealer at Gastonia Municipal Airport (KAKH). We sell SureFly electronic ignition and install it in Hangar 3-98.
What SureFly does
The SureFly ignition module is an electronic replacement for one magneto. It mounts on the magneto pad and keeps the same dual-ignition setup, with one SureFly and one magneto. It's designed for easier starts and a stronger spark than a magneto. Because it's electronic, it does away with the points and other wear parts a magneto has.
Is my airplane eligible?
SureFly modules are approved for many four- and six-cylinder piston engines. Eligibility depends on your engine model, the magneto you have now and your aircraft's electrical system, because the module needs aircraft power. We confirm the right SureFly part number for your engine before ordering.
Installation
A SureFly install covers removing the magneto you're replacing, mounting and timing the module, wiring it to aircraft power and the switches, and a careful ground run with ignition checks. The logbook paperwork is completed for you. We'll also talk through the operating notes that come with an electronic ignition, such as the electrical-system considerations.
Electroair
We also work on Electroair electronic ignition systems, if that's what's installed in your airplane.
Good pairings
- An EI engine monitor, to see how each cylinder responds after the change.
- Your Mooney annual or other scheduled maintenance, when magneto work is due anyway.
- Beringer wheels and brakes or a Dynon project, if you're planning several upgrades in one visit.
